My name is Mpho and I have a loving, caring, giving family. I attend Camps Bay High School and I am grateful for the academic and extramural opportunities as well as the view! I plan to establish a tutoring centre one day where children from impoverished backgrounds can learn and be inspired to learn.

My name is Lelethu and I attend Camps Bay High School. I love all the sports at school and making new friends. I am very outspoken which has helped me to make a lot of friends. I would like to study Maths at University and to continue dancing. I will give back to my community when I finish my studies by helping the children understand Maths.

My name is Lebohang. I am so excited about the all the new people and new experiences I will have while I am at Camps Bay High School. I am a positive and bubbly person and I am good at helping people laugh when they are putting themselves down for no reason. I am going to work very hard to put a smile on my family members' faces and to inspire the children in my community.

My name is Mosuli. I come from a very hard-working, kind and supportive family. I attend Camps Bay High School and I am excited to be the first person from family to attend there. The best part of being an SBF Scholar is being around people who strive for the highest achievements and have a positive attitude.

Herschel Girls’ Senior School

I am Lelethu and I attend Herschel Girls' High School. I have always wanted to go to a girls' school and meeting new people excites me. My mom is my best friend and she is the reason I work so hard – so I can take care of her when she is older. My best quality is the ability to work well under pressure. After high school, I see myself studying overseas in America where I will fly the South African flag high.

I am Nandi and I love Herschel because the school does so well in academics as well as sports! My biggest strength is public speaking. I have always presented in assembly at school and am the MC or narrator at school shows. Children must remember that intelligence does sometimes come naturally but you must still study, study, study because only hard work pays off.

My name is Adrienne. I attend Herschel and I am really excited to attend a school with such a high academic standard. When things are difficult for me, I look at my visual diary, which reminds me what I want to achieve when I am older. I would like to tell other children who want to succeed to work hard, be inspired and inspire others!

I am Litha. I am very excited about the amazing education Herschel offers, its fantastic sports and clubs and the friends I will make there. After high school, I see myself studying law at Harvard Law School in the USA one day and I will use my dedication, commitment and discipline to get there. The best thing about SBF is that the friendships develop into a family.

My name is Lukhona and I attend Herschel Girls' High School. I love the school environment and the view of Table Mountain. I really admire J K Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books. She was rejected twelve times before Harry Potter was published and I have learnt from her that I should never give up. I would like to give back to my community by becoming President one day!

Rondebosch Boys’ High School

My name is Mandilakhe. I live with my parents and my little brother. Both my brother and I love school. I attend Rondebosch Boys' High School where there are great teachers and sport! I plan to become a Zoologist because I am really good at working with animals. There is nothing that inspires me more than my parents. They are the light of my life.

I am Vuyo and I attend Rondebosch Boys' High School. I am very lucky to have the opportunity to live in hostel, where I can learn to be independent. My mother is my hero – she has made me who I am today. I would like to tell other children that nothing is accomplished without enthusiasm. Also, it is ok to want to have a career in sports, but make sure you have an education.

My name is Daniel and I attend Rondebosch Boys' high school. I am looking forward to the rugby and playing an instrument at my new school. One of my strengths is that I can think in a non-linear way which helps me with problem solving and making decisions. I want to be an inspiration to others and an asset to South Africa.

My name is Arata and I attend Rondebosch Boys' High School. I am excited about all the new people I will meet at my high school. I am a helpful person and I always offer to assist someone in need. I believe that children must work hard and ask their teachers and family for assistance when they struggle with something.

Rustenburg Girls’ High School

My name is Ylva and I attend Rustenburg Girls' High School. I think my best quality is my commitment to everything I do including extramural and cultural activities. I have always wanted to start a house makeover show in South Africa, where we will choose a family that has helped the community and aren't privileged and then revamp their home and make it beautiful.

My name is Amber. I attend Rustenburg Girls' High School. In addition to the sport and academic opportunities, they have also have a lot of societies that I can join to develop my leadership qualities. The best thing about SBF is that we are like a family. Everyone inspires you to work hard and do your best.

My name is Rachel and I attend Rustenburg Girls' High School, which is known for both its academics and its sports. My advice for younger children is to get your priorities in order – important things first before fun and games. Education in South Africa is the biggest problem for children, because there are few teachers, schools and resources. I want to assist schools when I am older.

I am Aaliyah. I am attending Rustenburg Girls’ High School and I am excited about all the new subjects I can take as well as the sports. One of the people I admire is Bethany Hamilton because she surfs like me and when she was in an accident with a shark and lost her arm, she didn't give up. She kept on surfing and I admire that attitude.

My name is Yusraa. I attend Rustenburg Girls' High School. I love the beautiful grounds where I can sit and enjoy the company of my new friends. My best qualities are my perseverance and determination – I never give up! My advice for other children is to make sure that your values and your goals are clear to you.

I am Kauthar and I attend Rustenburg Girls' High School. I am excited about the variety of different subjects and extra-murals I can chose from. My best quality is that I work hard in everything I do because I understand that you won't get anywhere unless you try your best. I admire my mother because she is always strong and tries her best.

South African College Schools (SACS)

I am Daymin and I attend SACS. My school has many great opportunities to offer and they are extremely good at sports. SACS also has a great staff of teachers. I would suggest to other children that they see failure as a good thing because someone taught me that failure is a First Attempt In Learning.

I am Takunda. I attend SACS and I am very excited about the learning atmosphere there. I believe the biggest challenge South African children face is being in a proper learning environment where they can excel. I would say that the person I admire most is Bill Gates. He revolutionised the world making millions in the process but he gave back to the people and community.

I am Shadley. Attending SACS will open up so many opportunities for me. I am a great artist and I like building things so I see myself becoming an Industrial Designer or animator. I believe an SBF Scholar must never give up because if they give up on their dream they will never succeed in life.

My name is Devron and I attend SACS. I am most excited to be making new friends and also about the new work we will be learning. One of my best qualities is my personality. I am a comedic person who always has jokes. I am also very determined about my school work.

Springfield Convent Senior School

My name is Natalie and I attend Springfield Convent School. I am very excited about all the sports there and also about all the new friends I will make in my high school life. I would like to study Science at University and the qualities that will get me there are innovation, good self-esteem and hard work.

Westerford High School

My name is Sandisiwe. I love attending Westerford High School because I love the challenges! I admire my parents as they teach me to respect what is important to me. I will work hard to achieve my goal of becoming a doctor in the Western Cape. When I am able, I would like to help build a home for vulnerable children where they can feel appreciated.

My name is Gloria and I attend Westerford High School. I love that Westerford has a great drama department and very high academic standards. Oprah Winfrey is someone I admire for her work for girls in South Africa. I will help less fortunate people too when I am older. As an SBF Scholar, I am dedicated to achieving my goals in order to succeed.

My name is Keenan and I attend Westerford, which I love because it is a school with strong academics. I admire Graeme Smith because he had the courage to walk out and bat with a broken finger in a test versus Australia. I am a very hard worker and I plan to make my family and community proud.

I am Patrice and I attend Westerford. At Westerford, there are many different types of sports and lots of new friends to make. My best quality is that I enjoy teaching and helping my friends when they don't understand something. The best thing about being part of the SBF community is that we face new challenges together.

When times are tough my dad inspires me because I get a picture of him in my mind telling me not to give up and give my best. I think the most important quality an SBF Scholar should demonstrate is commitment.

My name is Xolile and I am a Westerfordian. I am really looking forward to participating in drama, even though I can be very timid. In high school, I will study strenuously with no rest and my diligence and perseverance will allow me to do so. I plan to give back to my country as an educator or philanthropist.

Wynberg Boys’ High School

My name is Aslam and I attend Wynberg Boys' High School. I am most excited about the teachers there and the sports facilities that will be at my disposal. I am a very hard worker and plan to have a career in law or politics. Children in South Africa need help getting a good education and I plan to invest in programmes like SBF one day.

I am Abenathi and I attend Wynberg Boys' High School. My mom has always inspired me to work hard and I would like to give her advice to other children. She told me to make the subject I don't like the best the subject I put the most into and I raised my maths by over 30%. I would like to become an architect and I will need drawing and maths to achieve this goal.

My name is Ilyaas and I attend Wynberg Boys' High School. I am most excited about the schools' science labs, the various sports and the sports tours. I admire my mom because I can always rely on her to give her true opinion on a matter. I would advise other children to remember that constant effort and frequent mistakes are the steppingstones to genius.

My name is Xola and I attend Wynberg Boys' High School. I love meeting new friends and teachers at Wynberg. I like Maths because it takes concentration and focus and I would like to study to become a rocket scientist one day. The biggest challenge facing children in my community is gangsterism. I believe that there should be patrols in places where there are gangsters.

I am Zolani. I attend Wynberg Boys' High School, which is the school that I have always wanted to go to. I admire my mom because she is very strong and loving. My teachers also inspire me to keep working hard when things are tough. I believe the biggest problem facing children today is poverty because parents can't afford to send them to the schools where they will learn the most.

Wynberg Girls’ High School

I am Amy and I attend Wynberg Girls' High School. I love the Wynberg sisterhood. I would like to get involved in outreach groups that stop ocean pollution in our country. After high school, I see myself studying at UCT and working part time at the Two Oceans Aquarium. The best thing about the SBF community is that we all come from different backgrounds and come together because we have the same goal of a better future.

I am Sisipho and I attend Wynberg Girls' High School. I am inspired by my mom and by the TV presenter Bonang Matheba because when I look at them I see determination, hard work and dedication. I would advise younger childen who want to achieve to work hard, pay attention in class and study on a daily basis to achieve high marks.

My name is Siphosihle and I attend Wynberg Girls' High School. Wynberg Girls' will help me get the best education and I get the chance to play millions of sports! My mom is my rock and she always pushes me to go further. I would like to study law one day and my perseverance, discipline and ethics will help me get there.
