The 2012 SBF Primary School Roadshow has begun

The 2012 SBF Recruitment Drive Bruce Anthony, Associate Dean of Scholars From the end of January to mid February, the SBF team heads out to visit over 200 primary schools in the Cape Town metropole. The purpose of the visits is to invite top performing Grade 7 learners to register for the SBF Selection Exam. It's mind-boggling to think that in the past four years we’ve had the opportunity to meet over ten thousand of Cape Town’s most ambitious and dedicated young learners. Schools visits begin in Cape Town where we cover the City Centre and the old District Six, before moving outward to Woodstock, Salt River, Observatory, Grassy Park, Retreat and Steenberg. I and my colleagues then travel to schools all over Athlone, Hanover Park, Manenberg and Lansdowne. What follows is a journey down Voortrekker Road to Koeberg, Maitland, Thornton and Factreton. The final leg of our roadshow, down the N2, will see us to Langa, Bonteheuwel, Heideveld, Nyanga, Gugulethu, Phillipi, Khayelitsha, Delft and Mfuleni before we land - thoroughly exhausted, but inspired - back in our offices in de Waterkant. Personally, this annual primary school roadshow takes me to the heart of education. I am struck by the dedication and optimism of young people who look to education as a means of achieving their dreams. Each time I present to a group of Grade 7 learners, I imagine the heights these youngsters may attain in a few years’ time. Please phone us on 021 419 3383 for information about how to register for our selection exam. |
